When to go

There is little rain between Nov–Mar and with a warm climate this is the peak time for touring Cambodia. Apr–Oct is the low season for tourism with hot temperatures and high humidity, Sep–Oct can be wet but humidity should start to calm down a little offering a nice time to visit with lower rates than high season.

Jewels, temples and gold: Cambodia holiday highlights

Enriched with history, traditions and culture just waiting for you to explore… Cambodia is a country not to be missed. With a world-famous heritage site, stunning scenery, bustling cities and renowned cuisine, these are just some of the reasons why holidays to Cambodia should be at the top of your travel list. Whether you’re an avid adventurer, a foodie looking for a new favourite dish, or a family in need of a holiday with a difference, Cambodia has something for everyone.

We’ve got some of unforgettable Cambodia holiday packages and deals for you, but first: our Cambodia highlights. Here’s what every holidayer should be doing on Cambodia holidays:

First up: Phnom Penh, Cambodia’s vibrant capital city. With bustling street markets, magnificent temples and Royal Palace (with its diamond encrusted gold Buddha!), it’s easy to see why this city was once called the ‘Pearl of Asia’. Interested in learning more about Cambodian culture? Phnom Penh plays host to many museums celebrating the country’s heritage and culture. Be sure to pay a visit to the National Museum of Cambodia, a glorious terracotta building home to 1,000 year old Khmer sculptures and artwork, or pop next door to the Royal Palace, where you can take a stroll through manicured gardens and the Silver Pagoda, also known as the Temple of the Emerald Buddha.

For all you shopping lovers, a trip to the Central Market, locally known as Phsar Thmei, won’t disappoint. From dazzling jewels to gold jewellery on display, the market is a great place to pick up some souvenirs and also try authentic Cambodian specialities. If your holiday to Cambodia happens to fall over the weekend, the Phnom Penh Night Market is the place to be for clothing and tasty street food. Here you can soak up the electric atmosphere while checking out the traditional dancers and musicians fusing historical, well-known dances with modern Cambodian music.

Of course, no holiday to Cambodia would be complete without a visit to the Angkor Archaeological Park. Only a 30-minute drive from Siem Reap, this UNESCO World Heritage site is home to the famous Temple of Angkor Wat and the Bayon Temple. Each temple was beautifully crafted thousands of years ago, with intricate details and smiling faces carved into the rocks - we guarantee you’ll be left smiling right back at them.

Deciding where to stay in Cambodia can be overwhelming, but that’s where we come in. Check out some of the amazing Cambodia holiday packages we have to offer:

To really get a feel of Phnom Penh, look no further than the Sunway Phnom Penh hotel. Just a 15-minutes walking distance of the Central Market, Night Market and riverbanks, this is one of the best places to enjoy everything the city has to offer.

If you decide to stay in Siem Reap (and we recommend you do), the Prince d’Angkor, in the Old French Quarter, is just a 30-minute drive from the Angkor Kingdom. With excellent spa facilities and central location near the famous Pub Street, it’s the perfect base for exploring the city.

Looking for something slightly more tranquil but still close to the city centre? The Victoria Angkor Resort and Spa in Siem Reap overlooks the Royal Gardens, home to the Preah Ang Chek and Preah Ang Chom shrine. With its own tropical gardens, swimming pool and spa, here you can relax, rejuvenate, and venture out into the city as and when you please.

There’s only one way to do luxury on holidays to Cambodia, and that's with a stay at the world-renowned Raffles Hotel Le Royal, Phnom Penh. Raffles portrays old-world luxury at its finest with stunning gardens, swimming pools, spa facilities and much, much more. If you’re looking to dine in style, the Café d'Angkor is famous for its signature champagne breakfast and al fresco dining.

If you fancy a break from the cities or the pool, Cambodia is home to some of the rarest and most fascinating animals on the planet, from Asian elephants to gibbons, otters and leopards. Learn about Cambodia’s native wildlife at the Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity, where you’ll find information on the country’s native species, rehabilitation and conservation projects. Alternatively, go behind the scenes at the Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Centre (PTWRC), and have the chance to meet animals rescued by the Wildlife Alliance and visit areas that are not open to the public.

Looking to let off some steam? Here’s some of our favourite ways to get active and still make the most of all Cambodia has to offer:

  • Hike the sacred mountain of Phnom Kulen, Siem Reap, the birthplace of the Khmer Empire.
  • Enjoy a contrast to city sightseeing with a fun family day at the Fantastic Water World waterpark in Phnom Penh.
  • Watch the sunrise over the breathtaking towers of Angkor Wat before a day of cycling around the ruins of the Angkor Kingdom.

Holidays to Cambodia wouldn’t be complete without sampling the local delicacies; meats, fish or traditional rice dishes, foodies and tourists alike will be spoilt for choice. Here’s our pick of must-try Cambodian eats:

  • Fish Amok - Often referred to as Cambodia's national dish, this fish curry goes back generations, with each family having their own version of the recipe.
  • Nom Banh Chok (Khmer noodles) - This green fish curry, served with rice noodles is a Cambodian speciality that you should waste no time in trying. A typical breakfast in the towns and cities of Cambodia, Khmer noodles are sold in baskets by sellers in the streets.
  • Bai Sach Chrouk - Equally as popular as Khmer noodles, this BBQ pork and rice dish is also a traditional breakfast choice. Sliced pork is slowly cooked on a wire, marinated with garlic, and served over rice, cucumbers and pickled vegetables. For all you early risers out there, be sure to be one of the first in line as this dish is served from 07:00 am and sells out pretty fast!
  • Cambodia is known for its humidity, so make sure you cool down from the heat with a refreshing Cambodian iced coffee, made using sweet milk.

What better way to immerse yourself in a country than by joining in with national festivities? If you can, try to incorporate cultural festivals and events into holidays to Cambodia. Here’s just a few for your diary:

  • Cambodia New Year April 13th/14th: The biggest event to take place in Cambodia, this festival typically lasts 3 days - expect plenty of food, traditions and festivities.

Pchum Ben October: Also known as Ancestors Day, this 15-day religious festival is when Cambodians pay their respects to the dead with processions around temples and pagodas. Please check the Khmer calendar for specific dates.

So, are you ready to explore all that Cambodia has to offer? Of course you are! Take a look at our Cambodia hotels and holiday packages to start your adventure today.

Thank you for your patience and understanding

Payments are being prioritised based on when the request was made, working in order from March 2020 onwards. We will always try to process refunds at the earliest opportunity, for requests before August our maximum timeframe is 120 days. As we are steadily reducing the maximum processing time for each new request, for refund requests made in August, we expect the maximum processing time to be 80 days, from the date the refund is requested. For those requesting a refund in September, we expect it to be processed within a maximum of 60 days, and then reduce to 30 days for refunds requested in October, before returning to normal levels.

We'll be in touch soon

To finalise the amendment, one of our customer advisors will phone you. We need to work through amend requests in departure date order so we can prioritise those with the most imminent travel plans, so you may have a longer wait than usual until we’re able to ring you back. We will help everyone that wants to move their holiday.

I returned early from holiday and have further questions?

You can contact our team by emailing to discuss options on unused portions of your holiday. If you need to contact our team about amending an existing holiday or requesting a refund please log in to manage my booking.
