Pan Pacific Whistler Mountainside

Whistler, Canada

The hotel

Lodge-style living meets alpine luxury at this all-suite hotel, where fireplaces, private balconies, valley or mountain views, and fully kitted out kitchens come as standard. Squeezing itself into the closest spot to the Blackcomb Excalibur and Whistler Village gondolas, snow sports are obviously de rigueur here — helped by Pan Pacific Mountainside’s complimentary ski valet and its outdoor sports shop, The Salomon Store. It’s not all slope-side action of course, but even when you’re having a dip in the heated saltwater pool or one of its whirlpools, you’ll be doing so with views of the mountains and Whistler’s popular Skier’s Plaza. The plaza’s also the setting for the heated patio of the hotel’s Dubh Linn Gate Irish Pub, where the Gaelic pub grub, live Celtic music, and outdoor fire come with a side order of mountain views.

3 kids & 2 Adults in a 2 bedroom suite room was great- large location would be amazing for winter but didn't make a difference being any closer to mountain in the summer. Room wasn't as clean as I expected - saw several black hairs and found a dusty baby shoe under the bed. Hotel staff were mostly helpful but overall communication from the hotel staff wasn't very good. ex: i asked about room service and was told to look it up online, we needed a luggage cart they just said come get one from the front and didn't offer explanations. Overall our 3 night stay was ok but fell short of my expectations. I spent the $70/night to upgrade to a mountain view 1 bedroom suite but it didn't actually have a mountain view unless you went on the balcony and looked over the railing, it looked directly down the valley towards creekside. As a bike park rider, was hoping to sit on the balcony or inside to watch people coming down the hill. We also were expecting a higher level room and I asked about it at the front desk and the dark haired clerk rudely told me that we got what we got and there is no option for upper floors when booking. Back to sitting on the patio to watch riders or the view of the village, ruined by the constant screaming of kids in the pool below. Omg, could you not have adult only time or something. Literally from morning until 10pm there was constant yelling and screaming that we couldn't even enjoy our balcony and had to keep the windows and doors closed while in the room. While using the pool, there was a 25 person max and you needed to book time but during 2 of the days, there was over 40 people in the pool and while staff asked who people were and if they had a reservation, I overheard some guests saying they did book but were not on the list and weren't asked to leave. So staff chose to allow them to stay and violate social distancing guidelines. Also, there were only 4 umbrellas for the entire pool deck. 35º weather and you can only muster 4 umbrellas for shade? The rooms were pretty dated and low end furnishing. Pillows were about the size of a couch pillow, you'd think on a king size bed you would get a king or at least queen size pillow. The mattresses were very basic, no pillow top or very comfortable. Not sure about the comforter, there was no cover just a top and bottom sheet which easily get displaced and the actual comforter is exposed and on your skin, do those get washed each time or just the sheets? would hate to think I am getting other peoples oils and body fluids touching me at night if they aren't? I did appreciate that I could keep my bike in the room instead of a locker and free parking was included in our rate. The location is excellent and otherwise enjoyed our stay. Read less

The staff here has done a wonderful job in a difficult situation and kept smiling the whole time. The one bedroom suite was just what our family needed, the kitchen allowed us to avoid eating out, and the pool was excellent. Pre-booking the pool time was a bit inconvenient, but we loved not being at a crowded pool pandemic or not. The… Read more

The one bedroom suite was just what our family needed, the kitchen allowed us to avoid eating out, and the pool was excellent. Pre-booking the pool time was a bit inconvenient, but we loved not being at a crowded pool pandemic or not. The location was great as well. One downside, the parking is quite tight and despite hugging the post, we had one ignorant SUV park into our space and they banged up our door. Read less

We stayed here for 3-nights for a last-minute vacation as we didn’t want to venture too far from home during COVID. The hotel is immaculately clean, the room was super quiet and had great blackout blinds for sleeping in, the kitchen was well stocked with every utensil you would need - and a dishwasher! (again, with COVID not eating out), and the Murphy bed and sofa bed mattresses were super comfy. Booking a pool time was great so that we could social distance and still cool off after a day of outdoor activities. (It’s one of the few properties with a pool open.) The family had a great time and we would definitely stay here in the future. We used to live/work in Whistler in our youth (25 years ago) so are used to being in the hospitality business and the Pan Pacific Mountainside has excellent, polite, front desk staff. My only suggestion is that they have another Level 2 charger for non-Tesla EVs — we might bring our Leaf next time. Read less
