As far as beach access goes. Wow! Beautiful views. Rooms pretty clean. That said for the price the staff is pretty much a mess. It could be covid, it could be understaffed. But wow. The restaurant prices are in the 50-100s for a meal. You’ll order and wait upwards of an hour for the food to arrive. (But at the same time the food is AMAZING.) But reservations mean nothing. An example of ridiculous service. You have five open tables. You have a reservation for three. You get there and they say you can’t sit at ANY of the open tables for two. (At any other restaurant the waiter would just add a third chair to the table. It was insane. We asked and they refused.) Waiters are almost annoyed to take your order, and when they are motivated it’s 2 waiters rushing to do all the work and everyone else taking their sweet time. That and for such a beautiful place, the music at the outdoor restaurant is always blarring. Can never hear the ocean. Then you have amazing beach amenities, chairs, umbrellas. But at the same time, front desk, concierge? Everything works at a snails pace without caring much about the customer. Oh that and all the elevators were broken when we visited. I don’t post reviews EVER. But I couldn’t help this time because this place has so much potential but seriously management needs a reality check. The workers are trying but clearly the training, guidance, and necessary flexibility the employees need to be given to allow the customer to come first are just not there yet. Read less

Won’t be for another week. But staff reprimands the guest. Restaurant and bar management makes you feel unwelcome. Valet leaves with keys no help with luggage. When you find him. Puts his hand out for a tip before providing your keys! Ordering drinks on the beach was also a task. Beach side waiter had a nasty attitude. Also room was dirty. Bathroom walls had a film. Rather gross. Never stay at this hotel. Read less

Our stay at the pelican wouldn’t have been the same without Kyle and Mike from room service. They accommodated our every need and were very polite. If you stay here you should definitely try room service at least one night or morning!

My family visited the Grand Pelican for 4 nights and we had a wonderful stay! I found the resort on a google search so did not have a personal reference for the property. I must say, after reading some of the reviews, I was hesitant to book, but I’m so glad I did! The property is one of few hotels located right on the beach in Ft Lauderdale. It has been updated, but has the bones of an older hotel. All of the staff were very friendly and genuinely helpful with any request we had - from the valets, beach staff, wait staff, and. cleaning staff. The lazy river was a hit with our 3 boys ages 12, 8, and 5. The beach is beautiful and our room over looking the water with a balcony was very nice. The pool area is small but the pool attendant, Brian worked tirelessly cleaning and making sure the hotel guests had everything they needed. We had dinner with our kids at the hotel restaurant which was excellent. The ice cream shop was a particular favorite for the kids. Our room was clean, the decor was nice, and the size of the room accommodated our family nicely - the one drawback is that the walls in the living area were thin and you could definitely hear the people in the room next to us. We did not hear anything from adjacent rooms in the bedroom area. The kids were doing remote school for a few of the days and my husband was working remotely. The internet was spotty at times in our room, but having that many devices in one room plugged in is probably not the norm. And I hope most people who are guests in the hotel can unplug their computers and spend some time by the pool or on the beach! We will definitely be back and I highly recommend this property.
