Stayed four nights in April for a post-vaccination getaway. The beach itself was unbelievably crowded by the hotel, but a leisurely walk to the deserted end of the island/beach made it feel like a different world. The hotel was spotlessly clean, our spacious room on the 7th fl had fabulous views as if we were sailing on an endless ocean, and the service was top notch all around. Our room didn't have a full length mirror; I texted to request one; one was brought up that day. That alone is worth five stars I think, but service was five star all around: The pool service and poolside restaurant service was friendly, quick, and competent. We ate at both Seaguini and Sand Bar, and the service at both were phenomenal as well. The hotel can't control what type of guests come, and there were definitely some who refused to mask, but it is FL, so what was I expecting lol. The location was very convenient--we didn't rent a car, just walked everywhere. Had a great time all around, thank you! Read less

Stayed at Opal Sands 4/1-4/8. Check in: We arrived around 2:00 PM and the room was ready. Stayed at Opal Sands 4/1-4/8. Check in: We arrived around 2:00 PM and the room was ready. Pretty easy check in, no lines, we had a rented car, so the valet took care of the luggage by calling the bellhop for when the room was ready. Room: I had 319. I reserved my room through Expedia, a week before my arrival I asked for a room on a high floor because of the better views. They never answered my request through Expedia. 2 days before my arrival I received a text from an automated agent from Opal asking if I had special requests or needs for my upcoming stay. I asked again for a room on a high floor with a view. I read the TripAdvisor reviews and I saw that the 3rd floor was the worst because of palm trees blocking most of the view. Needless to say, during check in when she told me the room number, I was a little irritated. But didn’t say anything because I wanted to see the room and view first. Well, sure enough, there was a big palm tree blocking half the view. I called the front desk and asked if we can be moved and I was told no, they were sold out and to ask again in the morning. When morning came, we decided not to ask again. We had settled in the room and didn’t feel like packing should a room be available. Plus, after spending some time on balcony, the palm tree wasn’t too bad. See my pics. SPA: My husband and I did couple massages, something we haven’t been able to do since 2019. So, this was nice to feel a little normal again. The spa is very clean, and soothing. We both had great massages, I can’t remember the last night I had such strong pressure. It was fantastic, my husband loved his as well. Don’t skip out, well worth it. Food: We had breakfast at Sea-Guini our first morning. That morning seemed hectic for all the employees. The hostess was frazzled when we got there, which was 10:00. She asked us if we wanted to wait for lunch at 11:00. Which was odd because we got there at 10 and wanted breakfast. They were short staffed and didn’t want to seat more people, but she ended up seating us. Service was very slow, our waiter had too many tables to handle. I ordered a mimosa and my food came before my drink. We ate dinner here 1 time. My husband and shared 2 apps: Crispy calamari & crab & avocado. Then I had the scallops, my husband had the grouper. I had a salad; he had the bisque. Everything was delicious, I wasn’t crazy about the crab&avocado because it was guac vs sliced avocado. But service was good, really had no complaints about the dinner. However, around midnight both of us woke up with severe cramping. The next couple of hours were not fun. It had to had been the dinner since we shared the apps. The rest of the days we ate lunch at the pool. Everything we ate was good, and the portions are big. Pool: The chair game is real here. It’s a must you get up early and reserve the “prime” seats, otherwise you are in the back where it’s shade most of the day. You can leave your chair unattended for 1 hour only. There was one day we came down at 9:00 AM, there were 2 chairs in the “prime” spot with 1 shoe on each chair. Those chairs stayed emptied until 3:15. The pool attendant asked if anyone was sitting there, we said no, so he gave the seats to other people. About 20 mins later, the woman who had saved the chairs finally decided to show up. She and her husband had spent the entire day at the beach, and then wanted her prime chair at 3:30!!! She put up a fuss and demanded her chairs back. I think the people that came at 3:15 just gave her the chairs at that point. In the week we were there, we saw 3 separate fights over the chairs and people leaving them empty for a while, then expecting to have them when they come back. The day we left we got up early. At 7:15 I looked out there, and the first row of prime chairs was already taken. Also, the pool is overrun with kids. Every day, tons of kids playing football, screaming, splashing, there’s no relaxing here. I went into the pool twice, just to cool off. Dip and out! Shoutout to all girls who work the pool. These girls hustle all day long and are quick with drinks. Service at the pool was fantastic! Misc: I really liked the free water and snacks that are provided on each floor. Big bottles of water too, and fruit in the mornings. Housekeeping comes every other day, which was fine for us. We had plenty of towels and I used the automated agent text feature to request anything extra. They were always quick to respond. I requested coffee and cups one day. I don’t know if it was the week we went, but there were a lot kids. Some can be wild, we had a few on our floor that would run up and down the hallways and slam doors. And the usually screaming that they do. Parents are to blame for this one. Masks are required to walk through the lobby and while in elevators. Not everyone wears one and I saw no employee ask that they put one on. My husband and I walked through the lobby a couple of times with masks in hand. Overall: Our stay was nice and would stay here again. Hotel is modern and clean, and walking distance to everything. Read less

We also really enjoyed the free cookies, apples and water. The pool area was lovely, but sometimes a little busy as there were not any chairs if you came down later in the morning, but we always seemed to find a couple. Loved sitting in the grassy area close up to the railings, reminded me of sitting on a cruise ship. food and drinks were worth getting, there was always someone asking us if we needed anything. Would definitely stay here again. Also has a wonderful location, walking distance to shops, restaurants and beach. Read less

Great location, pedestrian friendly and close to all the action. Magnificent view from my room. One restaurant with an inside bar with bars pool side and beach side. Decent food. Great location, pedestrian friendly and close to all the action. Magnificent view from my room. One restaurant with an inside bar with bars pool side and beach side. Decent food. One reviewer stated this place is run by teenagers; I have to agree (more like college kids). Service is dependent on the person you interact with (shout out to Bayleigh at the front desk, so sweet hand helpful). On the other end of the spectrum was the other desk attendant with the snarky attitude. I asked if the floor in my room could be cleaned, “It was cleaned when you arrived” If it was cleaned correctly my feet wouldn’t be dirty walking from the bathroom to the bed (as I discovered my first morning). Room service? Expect to pay 30% additional plus a delivery charge (this doesn’t include the tip). Concierge? No where to be found. Listen to music through the TV? $10 plus tax (per day). $29 per day resort fee...for? Want a chair near the pool? help with luggage? Good luck. My cost $643 per night (taxes and the resort fee). I don't mind paying more when on vacation but in this case there is NO personal attention. In a time of Covid 19 you would think cleanliness would be a top priority. I'll stay at the Hyatt next time.
