I would highly recommend staying at the on-site resorts. It is worth the extra money for all the benefits that you get, as well as the staff is wonderful! It is the best thing at the end of a long day at the parks with kids and all you can dream about is sitting down and relaxing. No more long lines to get into just to leave. No more traffic to fight! You just get on the boat and let them take you back to the hotel! The captains are very friendly and patient with everyone! Read less

I have been a frequent guest to the Royal Pacific Resort in Orlando Florida for 20 years, and on my recent July stay, I noticed the vast effort made to renovate the lobby, sushi bar, guest rooms, and other community spaces. I am a huge fan of this particular Loews property and am sad to say that the design direction of the updates, though they obviously incorporated very nice higher-end products, made us sad. The design incorporated too much grey and a lack of color that we have been accustomed to at the Royal Pacific. I acknowledging that grey is currently very trendy, but our entire family’s reaction was that our formerly magnificent Pacific island haven has been converted into a clean line, nondescript, and generic high-end hotel. And though I love the wonderful light feature at the sushi bar, throughout the community spaces we missed the hand carved teak furniture, the tropical colors, the exotic patterns, and even the staff uniforms and Kukui necklaces. To be honest, my husband, who normally does not care a hill of beans where we stay, has not stopped talking about his disappointment. He travels internationally about 8 times annually, me not as often, but we look forward to relaxing at the Royal Pacific 2-3 times each year due to the fabulous laid back, peaceful, and calming atmosphere. It has always been my favorite oasis, and when I have not been able to get accommodations at the Royal Pacific, I have been known to change travel dates if at all possible to ensure my stay is here at my favorite spot. And though we have also enjoyed some of Loews' other locations, staying a few times at the Portofino and Hard Rock properties in Orlando, the Royal Pacific is my favorite hotel in the entire world. What I fear is that the wonderful Polynesian ambiance of the Royal Pacific has been lost with the current updates. The torch lights in the corridors, the Polynesian flowers on the walls in the guest rooms, the carved furniture, the totems, the carved folk-art wall hangings have all been removed. I take a lot of photos on my trips, and there used to be so many photo opts in the hotel, but on this trip I only took one photo inside the hotel and then only to document our momentous occasion of my son being there to propose to his girlfriend. Of course, I do not want you to think we are completely unhappy; I still give it 5 stars. We had a lovely time, and we received excellent service from all the staff throughout our stay. Their diligence with safety measures allowed us to feel very safe in a Covid 19 world. We enjoyed a cabana for a day and found the complementary fruit tray extremely fresh, tasty, and fabulous. We ordered almost every food item on the menu from the pool menu since our favorite restaurant, the Orchid Court Lounge & Sushi Bar is not currently open. We also ordered many drinks, since we had four adult children with us, and every food item and drink was very well received and delicious. The pool staff created a friendly atmosphere with top-class service and we enjoyed exceptional food choices. I will note that the pool had more debris in the water than we have experienced in the past, but where there is vegetation and children there will always be some debris. The beds were plush and comfortable. The rooms' cleanliness was nearly perfect. And Jorie at Guest Relations is nothing less than a superstar! I truly love this hotel so much, and of course fast passes for the parks are a lovely perk, and I am going to look on the bright side, hotels typically remodel every 7 years, and I hope when this time comes around again, that the designers will consider lovingly restoring this treasure to its former Polynesian ambiance and recreating that very authentic experience instead of continuing with the more generic upper scale resort vibe. Regardless, I will return in October. Read less

The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful. The Universal Help Desk texting service was great. The hotel itself was very prepared with hand sanitizer everywhere. The limited capacity of the hotel meant we rarely saw other guests and always had plenty of space. The pool atmosphere was so comfortable and relaxing. The convenient location with the parks, along with the unlimited Universal Express passes and Early Admission to Harry Potter truly made this trip so, so successful. Read less

This trip was much needed and so glad we decided to take it. We have stayed here before and knew that the express passes and being able to walk to the parks would be worth the stay. As soon as you walk in there is someone waiting to greet you, take your temp and give you a band showing that you are not running fever. They give a new color band each day but not once did we have to wait in line or were inconvenienced by this. Walking through the hotel you can see people wiping down and cleaning all over. The room was beautiful and comfortable, we slept well and had a gorgeous view of the pool. There was no daily house keeping due to covid but they are more than happy to bring you extra towels and anything else you may need. The pool was nice and never seemed crowded, hot tubs were closed, never had to wait for an elevator and it was one family at a time in them. Everyone was wearing masks and social distancing. Same at the parks, spent 3 days at US and IOA, had to be the best park experience I have ever had. Can't say enough good things about this trip. Read less
