Disney's Polynesian Village Resort

Walt Disney World, Orlando

The hotel

Tropical gardens, lavish luaus and calm waves characterise Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Gentle people, laughter and good cheer help every member of the family to capture that laid-back South Pacific mood in no time at all. Rooms are airy and have a tropical feel with bamboo and wood décor. When exploring the resort, tell the kids to look out for the unique Kukai Nut tree. The only one of its kind in the state of Florida, the tree was brought to the Walt Disney World Resort from its native Hawaii. The hotel is on the monorail system that will whizz you to the Magic Kingdom Park.

But this time it was definitely a mixed bag: The good. Three cast members, Loc and Hunter at the pool and Christine in Captain Cooks. Wonderful people who care more about service than mask compliance. It's the Polynesian so the location is wonderful. The bad: construction everywhere means the normal amenities are interrupted. No monorail, no splash pad, check in in the Pago Pago building. Nowhere to eat. Since Ohana is closed it was impossible to get into Kona Cafe so we ate every meal out of cardboard. Despite this, it was still $700 a night. The ugly: Disney's stupid mask rules. While the rest of the state opens up, disney gets worse. Don't have to wear it at the pool, but just to order at the bar you need one even though the CM there is wearing a welding outfit and behind a cocoon of plexiglass. An old guy told me I had to step to the side to take a drink and should just pull my mask up a bit. WTF? When Dr. Fauci originally told us not to wear masks before doing a 180, one of the reasons he said they don't help is people touch them too much. Dr. Polynesian guy seems to think that's NBD. CM are not allowed to take pictures so my family can't get a picture together. They will, however take your credit card when you buy something and it doesn't work. But expecting logical consistencies in Disney covid policies is like expecting a dog to learn how to drive. It was our fourth time staying here. 75% of the time it's been awesome. Disney's "Screw the guests, they'll pay for anything" attitude is slowly creeping in here. Read less

Our studio was disappointing, it was a DVC villa. It showed its years of wear and tear. The pools, however, were great and I’d go back just for those! Food choices were minimal, but being close to Dole Whips made up for it.

Stayed 2 nights and our family enjoyed the dole whips by the pool. Cast members were friendly and wore masks. Around the pool you didn’t have to wear a mask in the pool. They asked if you went outside the pool area or to the bathrooms that you wore it. Kids enjoyed the pool time and was a great relaxing vacation.

Whether you love it for its prime location, plentiful amenities, or accessibility to the parks, the Polynesian has something to offer for all of its inhabitants. The Polynesian's close proximity to Magic Kingdom keeps the family disputes to a minimum as the monorail ride to the park is only a few minutes. This quick and smooth ride sets the positive tone for a day filled with laughs and joy. Although one might find themselves stuffing their face in Mickey shaped pretzels or ice cream so good it should be illegal, you can enjoy a fantastic meal at the Polynesian. With multiple restaurants to choose from, you are sure to find a dinner that pleases even the pickiest of eaters. I can assure you Anton Ego from "Ratatouille" would rate the Polynesian's restaurants with the highest of reviews. If the location and food still hasn't convinced you to stay at this paradise on earth, perhaps the decadent pools can reveal the true joys this resort has to offer. After a long day of running around the parks, you can unwind at the beautifully designed pools and lounge in comfortable beach chairs. The Polynesian will help you manifest your dream of being a dancer in Lilo's hula class and inspire you to play the song "Hawaiian Roller Coaster Ride" on loop all day. Read less

We went as a family during covid-19. The pools are amazing! Best hotel on property with the coolest kids water park and slides! We will only stay at this hotel from now on when visiting this amazing Magical Place. Hotel room even had an extra bed pull down from wall under the tv for the kids. Perfect stay!!!
