1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge

Brooklyn, New York

The hotel

There’s more than a ‘nod to nature’ at 1 Hotel Brooklyn Bridge – it’s eco-friendly to its very core, from your room’s organic bedding to the nature-inspired children’s activities, daily Lobby Farmstand, use of reclaimed barn wood, and local artisanal products at the picnic-style restaurant. Style doesn’t suffer for sustainability, with features like corrugated leather headboards, gritty blackened steel, crate-style slatted closets, and a pop-up beer garden all giving the hotel a cool and contemporary edge. And they haven’t sacrificed those urban hotel essentials either, so you get complimentary WiFi, the Bamford Haybarn Spa, and a free shuttle into Manhattan (in a Tesla electric vehicle naturally) – although you could just stroll over nearby Brooklyn Bridge instead. But it’s the social buzz and views that make this place special, with the best enjoyed while sipping handcrafted cocktails on the rooftop pool terrace.

We were not treated in a friendly way by the staff, no efforts were made into making us feel more content or finding a solution. Again i understand the restrictions but at least a friendly staff and understanding that it is very frustrating for customers not to be able to use the pool after paying a prime rate. The staff instructed us to come and make a reservation at 6u30 AM if we wanted a seat, just what I wanted, getting up at 6u30 AM on a weekend away, wow so relaxing, If I had to describe my experience “ disappointment “ would be the key element. I was near the service station and heard the staff complain about the customers all the time, maybe it’s time for a different profession. Very normal customers are annoyed better to fix it than to complain about it. A wrong attitude right from the start. Read less

Excited to travel here for a nice quick getaway to later find out it would turn into misery. My husband surprised me with a nice thought that maybe it’s time to take a nice getaway from our normal scenery in Central Jersey. Mind you the tolls aren’t cheap and neither is the hotel but I was not reluctant to miss the opportunity. He in fact was one of the project managers to help build the Central Park location. So he was very excited to stay in one of his own facilities he worked hard to build. Nevertheless we couldn’t wait to hit the pool and enjoy the amenities. He called the night before to verify all the hotel rules and precautions they were taking. The young lady on the phone, we presumed gave us all the details because she spoke for 3-5 mins. But we were even happier the more details the smoother the process. Upon check in we were told valet parking was $45 shocked but what can we do No Problem. Proceeded to check in and the front desk receptionist was pleasant. Told us about the pool how it was open till 10 😳 Now mind you the night before the young lady said it was open till 7. Now which one is it 7pm or 10pm. So as we arrived in our rooms I asked the bell hopper and he confirmed 7pm. Now as a reminder check in is at 3pm. We arrived at 3:13pm. We immediately rushed to get to the main attraction “the pool.” The pool that’s advertised on your page or any page when you look up the hotel. We finally arrive at the pool to be greeted with a crowd of people waiting to get into the “main attraction.” Guests were baffled by what was supposed to be an easy going, exciting trip, to a now ruined trip. No one was allowed to enter because their is a 35 persons limit on how many guests can either reserve a cabana, table, and get in the pool. Mr. Hans you are the General Manager of a hotel that has a 194 guest rooms. In a major situation that it seems like is happening repeatedly you would think that their a system that being expedited faster than it looks. According to the reviews this is a nonstop issue and you are losing customers left and right. I literally witnessed 4 cancellations happen due to this issue and that happened within a hour. The owner stated under Our Story on your page that you’re about creating “A Platform For Change” leading to hospitality forward. This is by no means helping to lead your industry towards change. Your staff is not to serving your guests properly and allowing them to just walk without even saying “Well what can I do to help the matter or better yet get you all to not cancel.” Instead of okay room cancelled have a good day is not satisfactory and won’t lead to recommendations. Impeccable Customer Service is the foundation to a successful company. It’s sad to see this beautiful hotel not live up to its means. On another note I know my husband was upset so I asked if we could come back on Wednesday when the weather is better. The manager still wanted to charge me $100 for the room due to having to sanitize it. I’m sorry but that’s a complete slap in the face to hear. When simple communication could’ve easily stopped the madness from happening before booking. I’m praying this will not be the case on Wednesday. Change needs to happen and quickly. Read less

Upon request the hotel did send up requested items (coffee pods) to the room though. What was not acceptable was the lack of feedback from the hotel. Had a noise complaint during first night, no reply. After checkout I found two questionable positions on my bill (like a parking charge despite the fact that I booked a rate that included parking), reached out to hotel more than once and have yet to hear back 4 weeks later... I like location and property but the service levels don’t meet my expectations for a premium brand at premium pricing. Read less

I just came here over the weekend for a birthday celebration and I have to agree with "Mike G"'s review in saying wow, what a letdown. He summed it up perfectly, "it’s clear that not a single person decided to think about how a guest would feel staying here." Check-in was fine during the time I arrived. I just came here over the weekend for a birthday celebration and I have to agree with "Mike G"'s review in saying wow, what a letdown. He summed it up perfectly, "it’s clear that not a single person decided to think about how a guest would feel staying here." Check-in was fine during the time I arrived. But at no point during check-in did the front desk receptionist mention the reservations about the pool/restaurant etc (and the possibility of not getting in). It's almost like this whole thing is kept under wraps until you get to the 10th floor and realize it's all a sham. They act like bouncers to let you onto the roof - which I'm sorry, was that not paid for upon reservation? Apparently everyone had the same idea to come to this place for a respite from the pandemic and I DO NOT think the rates are worth the stay. The staff up on the 10th floor had a funky attitude, that came with a sense of entitlement. The pool area was A MESS. It looks a lot smaller than what's advertised on the site. Clearly, this hotel is just trying to cash-in while they can and not truly thinking about the guest experience and what people are actually getting for with their money. Oh yeah, my bathroom didn't even come with the proper amount of towels. For the price of this place (a 5-star hotel), you'd think they'd be better about the little things. Look elsewhere honestly, Brooklyn is so over-hyped - you might as well just check for places in lower manhattan. This hotel is nothing but plant walls and aesthetics. I guess you pay for the irrigation system. Read less
