If you want a nice hotel with an amazing location, the Essex House is hard to beat. So close to Central Park. Easy cab ride just about anywhere in Manhattan. The lobby staff were so friendly -- they even gave my daughter a Marriott stocking cap to help with the very windy weather that day. Don't expect fancy rooms -- the rooms are nice and… Read more

Stayed here one night for work. Very comfortable bed, was happy with the size of the room and the bathroom was nice too. No view, just looked at a wall, but otherwise the room was great. Very clean, friendly staff and security. The lounge was closed due to pandemic, but otherwise stay was great.

There were many cars ahead parked alongside the hotel so I parked behind them only to see another hotel guest cut into a bunch of parked cars and get service before me. I continued to look for Valet workers but they were no where to be seen. Then it took a long time to check in but NOT due to other guests. There was only ONE person at the front desk and she had left her station to get cash for the ONLY hotel guest in front of me. When I booked the 2 rooms here I made a point to let the Front Desk know I wanted rooms close to each other but instead I got rooms on DIFFERENT floors. The icing on the cake was that my view was of other brick buildings. This is what my Marriot Rewards gets me. Should've gone to the Hilton or the Hyatt. I will NOT be returning to a $500 a night room with no views!!! Read less

Great property on the edge of times square and Central Park. The staff, property and facilities are all top notch (dare I say "spacious" for NYC). The lobby is gorgeous, as is the restaurant and bar area. The elevators remind you of classic films, and if you get a central park view, you're in for a wonderful treat each time you look outside… Read more
