Park Lane Hotel New York

Midtown, New York

The hotel

A benchmark for luxury Manhattan retreats, Park Lane Hotel is old-world New York at its very best. It exudes a definite air of upmarket class, with its well-dressed frontage opening into a grand lobby. But it’s what is outside the hotel that first wows guests – as you’re staying right along Central Park, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. The address also puts you just a New York minute from other attractions, like Times Square, Carnegie Hall, and Fifth Avenue. With a location like this, it’s no wonder the architect designed oversized picture windows. Behind them, treats include a complimentary 24-hour fitness centre, free WiFi, and dining and drinks at The Park Room Restaurant, Harry’s Bar, and Café on the Green.

Our room, 2001, has serious water damage in the corner by the window. The entire carpet corner is saturated in water. They would not put us in another room. They came and put towels over it and a fan down so now I have no chair for the view. They came and put towels over it and a fan down so now I have no chair for the view. There is NO night light for bathroom, just a huge bright light so when u go to the bathroom in the night or morning your eyes hurt. These rooms are seriously outdated. The room, decor, carpet, lights are old, like from the 80's. Of all the hotels I've stayed at on this strip, this is the worst. No restaurant or bar, no room service. Read less

The hotel staff was incredibly nice and accommodating. They did a great job adhering to covid protocol. The rooms were clean and comfortable and the park views were amazing. Overall a great experience.

We really enjoyed our recent weekend stay at the Park Lane Hotel. Fantastic location, spacious rooms, clean, and friendly staff. I think it is a great value for the money. Yes, it is like a 3 star hotel, but it is also a much lower price for a room with a Central Park view than neighboring hotels like the Ritz or JW Marriott. If you want the five star experience, you have to pay for it. It is an old building straight out of the 1970's. The hallways reminded me of a scene in Taxi Driver. However, they are completely remodeling the place now. One reason I wanted to write this review is that I almost canceled our reservation after seeing other recent reviews on this website. My wife had booked it, because she stayed there before. She said it would be fine and it was. So I just wanted to say we had a terrific experience. We will most likely stay there again if we go back to NYC. Read less

There are so many better options for the price in NYC. There are so many better options for the price in NYC. We stayed for the weekend and both agreed that the hotel does a poor job caring for its guests while charging top end rates for dirty, worn rooms. Location is great though! First, there is no baggage holding facilities. We had a flight out later in the day. When we asked if they could hold our luggage while we went out in the city, the response was that they could not due to COVID regulations. When asking for suggestions, the lady at the front desk just shrugged her shoulders. As a hospitality based business, this is something that needs to be provided. As a point of reference, we met other travelers who’s hotels were happy to hold their bags for them. The rooms are pretty good sized for New York, and in our opinion were decorated fairly well. But handles were broken off the drawers, the bed was terribly uncomfortable with firm ruts on either side of the mattress from so many years of use, and absolutely no amenities in the rooms. The carpet was worn and dirty, leaving a slippery sheen on your feet if you walked on the carpet after your shower. No coffee machine, thin towels with holes, and even no plastic disposable cups to use when getting some water. No concierge, no bellman, no help with reservations, no valet, no luggage holding, no restaurant, no bar, no gym, and no AC in our room. Why would you ever choose to stay here? Read less

I reserved a Park-View King suite for my partners birthday. I called in advance to request a room on a higher floor which was not honored upon arrival. There was also unsightly gray tape left all over the wall facing the park of which we have no idea why or what it was. Suite 1400 for your reference. Prior to coming I double-checked and I was told there would be bath robes in the suite which my partner loves. When I looked, none were provided. I called downstairs to request them and the line just rang and rang. No one was able to help nor did anyone pick up the phone for hours. Staff told us they are short staffed. That is not the guests concern and it was unprofessional. In addition, the room was 76 degrees the entire stay and AC was not working. I understand renovations and limitations due to COVID-19 but besides the park view, we received nothing in terms of customer service or satisfaction upon our first stay. Read less
